How to put on graduated compression stockings

How to properly wear graduated compression stockings

Graduated compression stockings are not exclusive to fashion models or flight attendants. Those with slim legs can slip them on like regular tights, but for those with curvier legs or who suffer from swelling, putting them on requires a specific technique to avoid unnecessary stress and effort.

Preventive stockings can have firm compression. Quality craftsmanship requires care to avoid damaging the yarn and to prevent fatigue while putting them on.

Step 1: Preparation

While sitting, insert your hand into the stocking down to the heel. Grip it with two fingers and turn the stocking inside out towards the heel itself.

Step 2: Insertion and unrolling

Insert your foot, positioning your toes correctly. Gently unroll the stocking, pulling it up to the knee. Smooth out the calf area and the popliteal fossa (behind the knee) well to avoid annoying creases.

Step 3: Final check

If you are wearing tights, proceed with the other leg and then stand up to adjust the waistband and the gluteal area. Run your hands along your legs to verify the uniformity of the fabric.

⚠️
Beware of jewelryRings and bracelets can snag the fabric. Always remove them before you start putting them on.

Did you know? Claravida tights have a very soft "comfort" waistband that does not squeeze.
